Tender Details

Expression of Interest are invited for Procurement of Consultancy Services to Conduct Research to Create a Database of Persons with Disabilities in Seychelles.

For years, there has been talk about setting up a database on persons with disabilities. This will improve the development of future policies and services to cater for their needs. However, many years have gone by and decisions continue to be taken for this population group without an idea of the number of persons with disabilities in our country. The lack of data on disability creates a vacuum of evidence and further marginalizes people with disabilities from development. In 2009 the Republic of Seychelles ratified the Convention on the rights of Persons with Disabilities. This Convention calls member states to take action in a number of areas including ‘to collect appropriate information, including statistical and research data, to enable them to formulate and implement policies to give effect to the present Convention ‘. Only by collecting data on whether or not people with disabilities are being included in development and social progress can we ensure their full and equal participation on an equal basis with others, as per the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with disabilities (UNCRPD).

The EOI is expected to lead to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the above mentioned Consultancy from short-listed applicants.
