Description: The Asse II mine was operated as a research mine for the final storage of radioactive waste. As part of this, weak (LAW) and medium-active (MAW) radioactive waste was stored in the mine. According to § 57 b AtG, the mine must be shut down immediately. The decommissioning should take place after the radioactive waste has been retrieved. Concept planning was developed for the retrieval of the radioactive waste from the storage chambers 7/725 and 8a / 511. Building on this, design plans for the retrieval are developed in parallel to the development and testing of the mining technology announced here. This prior information relates to the order to develop and test the recovery technology for retrieval from storage chambers 7/725 and 8a / 511.
