Description:

the naval surface warfare center indian head explosive ordnance disposal technology division (nswc iheodtd), indian head, maryland is seeking innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pulsed x-ray generator technology supporting the eod mission. Eod operators routinely use portable x-ray diagnostic equipment to interrogate targets of interest to determine the threat, identify the internal components, evaluate the threat's condition, and select the appropriate render-safe and disposal procedures. While the application of solid-state technology has resulted in significant x-ray imager improvements, the core technology associated with pulsed x-ray generators currently used by eod has remained fairly stagnant, and as a result is a limiting factor for achieving the best possible image quality from state-of-the-art digital radiography (dr) and computed radiography (cr) imagers.
