ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

This task is aimed at improving the understanding of the marine litter problem in Mozambique. Analysis and recommendations will support the Government of Mozambique in the development of the countrys blue economy, including key contributions to the upcoming National Action Plan to Combat Marine Litter.
The first specific objective is to develop a baseline of the production, input and disposal stages of the marine litter and plastic circular economy, and to identify priority areas for intervention. The second specific objective is to understand the consumer behavior aspect of the marine litter issue. The third is to analyze existing gaps in Mozambiques regulatory, policy and institutional framework as it relates to the governments ability to implement a comprehensive approach to plastics consumption and waste in the country, and to provide a corresponding roadmap for action.
