The Government of Algeria is piloting a project for the development of a national strategy and a legal and institutional framework on access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their use and associated traditional knowledge, in accordance with the provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversityand the Nagoya Protocolin Algeria. This project benefits from GEF funding, with co-financing from UNDP and the Algerian Government. Mission summary The national expert in inventory and recovery of microorganism genetic resources (EN12), recruited for the Project and placed under the authority of the UNDP Program Analyst and Director NProject, will work in close collaboration with the National Coordinator, the Chief Technical Advisor, and other experts (international and national) recruited under the project. The main mission of the expert will be to carry out an inventory of the genetic resources of the project. microorganisms likely to be valued inthe APA framework, which will be integrated into the ABS database management system. For this purpose, hewill work closely with the expert in database development and information organization on genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge (EN7); In addition, it will contribute to the development of the legislative frameworkf and regulation on access to genetic resources and fair and equitable sharing arising from their use.
