Duties and Responsibilities

Functions / Main expected results:

The consultant will be in charge of the following main functions:

1. Identify and select partner production organizations;

2. Plan all activities related to the accompaniment of twenty (20) women's groups working in the shea sector;

3. Facilitate contracting between almond and shea butter production organizations between private sector partners;

4. Facilitate the provision of support funds for the marketing of almonds

5. Facilitate training of trainers sessions on modern almond production techniques and other relevant modules;

6. Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the realization of the activities of collection and production of almonds improved and shea butter production;

7. Ensure the mobilization of the management team and ensure the availability of products meeting the qualities required by private sector partners.

· Identify and select partner production organizations;

The collection and production of improved almonds in a perspective of sustainable partnership, requires the engagement of women's organizations in the main shea production basins in Mali. The identification and selection of shea production organizations will be done through a prospecting mission that will have the latitude to clearly explain the methods of collaboration, to validate the commitment of the shea production organizations. This process will be sanctioned by the signing of a collaboration agreement between them and the private sector companies during the launching workshop.



· Plan all the activities related to the accompaniment

In order to facilitate the ownership of the support approach by all stakeholders, the coordinating consultant will carry out participatory planning of all activities. This planning will clearly bring out the planned activities, the expected results, the achievement periods and the actors involved in their implementation. Beyond ownership, this planning will serve as a basis for developing participatory monitoring and evaluation tools to measure progress in support.



· Facilitate contracting between partner almond production organizations and the private sector

In advance of the support launching workshop, the consultant will take care to develop agreements that will link private sector companies and shea butter production partners. The launch will also be the framework for reviewing the Accompanying Action Plan and the responsibilities of all stakeholders in the collaboration.



· Facilitate the provision of support funds for the marketing of almonds

The signing of collaboration agreements with the shea production organizations is one of the guarantors of the mobilization of almond stocks agreed with them. To prevent members of production organizations from producing part of their production in local markets, it is planned to set up marketing support funds to be co-managed by leaders of women's organizations and supervisors. . These funds will come from the private sector to ensure a good supply. The facilitation of the establishment of the funds will be the responsibility of the coordinating consultant.



· Animate training sessions

· Ensure the mobilization of the management team

Supervision of almond collection and production activities will be carried out by a team composed of resource persons from the Regional Directorates for the Promotion of Women and Children and the Family (DRPFEF) and other local resources ( especially in areas where the DRPFEF are less active). The mobilization of the management team is made by the consultant in consultation with the shea program of the MPFEF and the UN Women team.



· Monitor and evaluate the collection and production activities of almonds

In order to allow the intervention to achieve the expected results, a monitoring and evaluation system will be put in place. It makes it possible to follow the progress of the activities, to detect possible difficulties and to envisage remediation solutions. For this, close monitoring and evaluation will be carried out by supervisory staff and periodic supervision (once / month / locality) by the coordinating consultant. · Have at least 5 years of support for almond shea production organizations

· Good knowledge of rural development issues in Mali;

· Validated experience of at least 5 years in the coordination, assembly and management of development projects;
