Assignment Field Medic and First Responder Medical Training for NTS/MRE teams

Overall purpose of the consultancy: The overall purpose is for the Medical Trainer to train the DDG Field
Medics, NTS field staff and selected DRC office staff in all medical procedures and theory as directed in
DDG Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) 9, “Medical Support to Mine Action Activities”.
- Medical training within DDG can be separated by level, all field based staff shall have a
minimum of first responder training (FR), those designated as medical support staff shall
achieve minimum Field Medic level while those designated as senior medic should
demonstrate the competencies of ECP Extended Care Provider (ECP).
- All those medical support staff designated as field medic shall be trained to field medic level by
way of successfully completing the DDG field medic course.
- All field-based staff shall complete the minimum 2 day (16 hours) first responder training.

Key responsibilities: The Consultant will be expected to provide the following deliverables:
- Provide training in line with standards set in DDG SOP 9.
- Facilitate classroom theory and “outdoor” practical lessons as appropriate.
- Conduct assessments as necessary to ascertain the level of technical skill and competency of
students ensuring only those capable of meeting the required minimum standard are
recommended for employment.
- Assist DDG/DRC Algeria with any other medical matters.
