Abstract: The University of Bristol requires a Main Contractor to construct a new research facility (the National Soil Foundation-Structure Interaction (SoFSI) Facility) at its Langford campus. The new facility will:— have Gross Internal Area of approximately 630 m2, — have a steel frame superstructure, concrete block walls and timber cladding, — have highly reinforced specialist substructure including pit walls and strong floor, — house a 6 m x 4 m seismic testing table and 5 m x 6 m x 4 m deep test pit, — house highly sensitive scientific equipment which requires high-precision substructure works.The construction budget is ~ 5 000 000 GBP.The University intends to appoint a main contractor in January 2020, with a start on site in February 2020 and defect free handover in early Spring 2021.A detailed planning application will be submitted in April 2019.The University is following a single-stage tender to appoint the contractor, with this procurement following the restricted procedure.The process is further explained here (and in full detail in the procurement documents):1) Any economic operator may submit a request to participate in this procurement by responding to...
