Description : TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR SERVICE CONTRACTING
Assignment: Operation and maintenance of the complete water supply infrastructure at Rukban to provide water to 50, 000 people.
Location: Rukban, Mafraq Governorate, Jordan.
Duration: 12 months.
Start Date: October 1st, 2018.
End Date: September 30th, 2019.
Reporting to: WASH Officer, WASH section.
JUSTIFICATION/BACKGROUND
UNICEF is the Lead Agency for Humanitarian interventions in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector in Jordan. Under this responsibility, UNICEF provides water, wastewater and hygiene facilities and services to Syrian refugees living in Za'atari, Azraq and King Abdullah Park refugee camps, and in the temporary settlement at Rukban, at the north-eastern border with Syria.
As Lead Agency for Humanitarian interventions in Jordan, UNICEF took over the responsibility of water provision to Rukban in April 2016. Since then, UNICEF has progressively expanded the infrastructure and modality of water delivery. Owing to the particular nature of Rukban, the infrastructure was expanded in phases, as circumstances changed and needs increased. The initial works in Rukban involved the construction of water storage facilities (Water Station 1) approximately 4 km from the point of distribution, with a pipeline and elevated tanks constructed to distribute the water along the berm.
