Description : For the past several years, the Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) has retained the services of private law firms to undertake a wide variety of legal work when determined to be necessary and/or desirable by the Regional Solicitor in consultation with senior staff, in order to augment the work done by the Municipality-s in-house legal department. Specifically, CBRM has engaged the services of law firms on an as-required basis to provide legal services in the areas of municipal law, labor law and other local municipal law legal issues. CBRM wishes to have two to three law firms engaged to act for the Municipality when required in each of the outlined legal services areas. Pursuant to CBRM Council's Purchasing Policy, CBRM tenders some contracts for the supply of goods and services on a regular basis. It is Council's policy to ensure, in all instances where CBRM contracts for services, that all such contracts are reviewed on a periodic basis and those proposals be regularly requested from the open market. In this RFP, Municipality means the Cape Breton Regional Municipality or CBRM and Proponent means the law firm responding to this Request for Proposals.
