Migrant funds are important financing resources for developing countries. However, migrant remittances to their country of origin decreased by 2.4 per cent in 2016, to $ 429 billion, for developing countries alone. This capital has indeed become the first form of aid todeveloping countries, far ahead of state aid, which accounts for only $ 142.6 billion, according tothe OECD.To better understand the developments and the impact of the transfer of emigrants into the economy of Guinea- Bissau, the BCEAO National Directorate for Guinea-Bissau conducted a survey in 2011. According to the results of this esurvey carried out in 7 regions of the country (out of a total of 8 regions and the Bissau -SAB Autonomous Sector), transfers received in 2010 are estimated at 29.1 billion FCFA, mainly for SAB, which accounts for 46.2% of provisions. The funds come mainly from employed emigrants (85%), and the countries of origin ofthe Guinean community in Portugal is well known. In 2016, almost half of remittances (49%) came from Portugal, followed by Senegal, which accounts for about 20%. About 70% of remittances come from these two countries alone. If we add to Portugal and Senegal, Spain, Gambia and France, these are the top fiveys of origin remittances to Guinea Bissau, as the main host countries of the Guinean diaspora. Similarly, the most recent data from the World Bank (2017) reveal that Guinea-Bissau is among the 40 countries in the world where remittances are the largest in GDP. In Africa, it is the 8th largest contributor tomigrants' funds. In 2017, remittances totaled US $ 104 million, representing 7.7% of GDP, compared to 2.6% in 2001, an average growth rate of about 20% over this period. recent advances in communication technology it is likely to have structural changes in themoney transfer system used by migrant workers toGuinea-Bissau.
