Description : Objectives



Strong Community Liaison: To apply extensive and robust Community Liaison practices with a variety of conflict stakeholders to strengthen the extent of community engagement in mine action, the acceptance of future mine action interventions and quality of land release activities.

Land release: To release land in Zabul province enabling the respective communities to productively and safely use the cleared land and prevent further loss of life and limbs.

Marking and Data collection: To enable the communities in Zabul province to live and work safely with knowledge of the whereabouts of suspected or confirmed hazardous areas; and to enable quality planning, prioritizations and advocacy through the collection of victim and hazard data.

Formal mine/ERW risk education: To ensure that the communities in this province are fully aware of mine action activities, and that safe behavior and awareness against the risks that explosive hazards in the area present are promoted.

Capacity Building: To ensure that the capacity of key MAPA partners is continually invested in across a variety of competencies that will see improvements to activities, funding levels, and strategic planning in mine action in Afghanistan.

Visibility and Advocacy: To advocate for the need for continued mine action support in Afghanistan and to document the achievements by all stakeholders.
