Tender Details
Adverse event reviews are required when people receiving medical treatment are unnecessarily harmed during that treatment, e.g. a pressure injury (bed sore), or an infection, or medication error. ACC covers these claims under treatment injury. As part of ACC's injury prevention, we are assisting healthcare providers to do better reviews of these events they review it, learn from it and put interventions in place so that the event doesn't happen again.
Part of this help is ACC funding provision of human factors expertise. Human factors is a discipline and method of looking at a problem from a whole of systems approach how was the event able to happen in the system and what can be done to stop it. ACC is funding this assistance as it does not currently exist in the health care sector, and we estimate that it will improve patient safety and therefore reduce treatment injuries, lowering costs to New Zealanders and to ACC.
We are looking for mentors and mentees who meet the following requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in psychology, clinical practice, or equivalent
- Experience working in clinical human factors
- Experience in mentoring/training/teaching
- Experience in recommendation and report writing
- Understanding of workplace culture in clinical settings, and how to introduce a just culture
