The ACC Hand Therapy Services contract is an open contract that can be applied for by appropriately qualified vendors at any time. The current Hand Therapy Services contract will be issued until it's expiry date of 31 October 2018. ACC reserves it's right to review it's continued contracting arrangement with Hand Therapy Service providers upon expiry of this contract. Notifications regarding the Hand Therapy Services contract will be made through the GETS website.
The objective of the Hand Therapy Services contract is to provide Clients with timely access to a specialised Hand Therapy service, when indicated, that facilitates a prompt, cost-effective and sustainable return to independence and/or work or education. The contract aims to enable the provision of clinically necessary Hand Therapy services to Clients for the purpose of treating all relevant pathologies of the upper limb distal to and inclusive of the elbow joint, as well as any shoulder problems related to primary hand pathology (e.g. neural conditions arising from the brachial region i.e. radial nerve palsy secondary to humeral fracture, brachial plexus lesions etc.) for the purpose of restoring the Client's health to the maximum extent practicable.
ACC defines Hand Therapists as either registered Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists who have undergone a further two-year postgraduate training programme and are members of the New Zealand Association of Hand Therapists (NZAHT).
This Hand Therapy Services application requires vendors to submit the names of the Hand Therapists who will be providing services under this contract, these providers are known to ACC as "Named Providers". In order for therapists to be recognised as Named Providers the applicant must provide proof of either full member or associate member status with the New Zealand Hand Therapy Association. All NZAHT Associate Members must have an agreed supervisor who is a full member of the NZAHT (the attached application pack provides a supervision agreement template).
Please note existing holders of the Hand Therapy Services contract do not need to apply as current contract arrangements continue to stand. The intent of this notice is to enable new applications.
