Tender Details

Tenders are invited for Financial Roadshow Education and Sensitization Campaign for Market Centres and Economic Players in the Informal Sector of Ghana.

Despite the significant progress that has been made in recent years with regard to poverty reduction, socio-economic development in Ghana faces the challenges of insufficient social security and unequal distribution of economic opportunities and wealth. In the financial sector, in particular, there are many formal and informal financial institutions playing key roles in financial inclusion. These include Microfinance Companies (MFCs), Micro Credit Companies (MCCs) and Microinsurance Companies (MICs). Approximately 85% of the economically active population of Ghana is working in the informal sector. So, any attempt at financial inclusion without focal attempt at mainstreaming the informal sector and small & micro enterprises (SMEs) is bound to fail. This calls for the need to focally educate and sensitize actors in the informal sector of Ghana. This will help them to be financially informed and involved, in a robust growing financial market like Ghana’s. Against this background, the fundamental problem to be addressed by the GIZ Programme for Sustainable Economic Development (PSED) in Ghana is that the use of financial services by low-income households and SMEs is reasonably increased. To attain this feat, grassroot-based financial education is critical to enabling Ghana attain the right mix of sound banking, microfinance and microinsurance literacy, access and penetration. GIZ seeks to contract the services of a local consulting firm to undertake: a series of financial roadshow education and sensitization campaigns for market centres and SMEs in Ghana. SCOPE AND METHODOLOGY: For geographical scope, the sensitizational campaign is national: involving key stakeholders in the financial and insurance sectors of Ghana: namely, the Ministry of Finance (FSD-MoF), the National Insurance Commission (NIC), the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Ghana Association of Bankers (GAB), the Ghana Micro Finance Institutions Network (GFIAMFIN), the Association of Rural and Community Banks (RCBs), the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIS), and the National Communication Authority (NCA). The methodology to be adopted will include but not limited to live roadshows, [local] market-based interactive activations, and impact assessment of the educational measures used.
