Description : BACKGROUND

The World Health Organization has called for the adoption of both greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation measures and adaptation strategies to address climate change. In addition, research has shown that well-designed adaptation strategies can potentially improve health immensely through the direct reduction of health risks and indirectly improving health outcomes through the achievement of health co-benefits. Health co-benefits transpire when adaptation strategies produce health advantages outside of the scope of the original health outcomes targeted to be improved. Adaptation actions should be carefully researched and developed with adequate human health considerations.
