The Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho has received financing from the African Development Bank
towardsimplementation of the Economic Diversification Support Project and intends to apply part of the
agreed amount for this loan to payments under the contract for consultancy servicesfor Development of
Export / Origin Consortia in Lesotho.
The overall objective of this consultancy assignment is to assist MSMEs to develop and implement export
and/or origin consortia in two pilot sectors that will be selected in order to enhance their capacities and
capabilities for export development and competitiveness.Specifically, the consultancy firm is expected to;
(i) Undertake field visits to understand the product;
(ii) packaging and graphic needs of the MSMEs in selected sectors;
(iii) undertake field visits to understand the product specifications and potential target markets for
exports on a global level;
(iv) conduct desk research to inform development of plans and programs; analyze all information
gathered and compile appropriate reports;
(v) provide guidance and support for both joint brand development for the consortia;
(vi) provide guidance and support for individual MSMEs on branding and design; and
(vii) provide consortia with guidance and support for joint actions in marketing and exporting.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing
these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the
services (including brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability
of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of
qualification. In such cases of associations/ consortiums, EOI submissions should clearly identify one lead
firm that would take up the primary responsibility of assignment delivery.
