Assignment Description

The objective of IFCs Morocco Climate Entrepreneurship project is to contribute to unlocking clean technology markets in Morocco by building the capacity of the Cluster Solaire and Moroccan ecosystem players to support green ventures in Morocco. This will in turn help contribute to creating high-quality jobs in the sustainable energy and other cleantech sectors while helping Morocco mitigate and adapt to climate-related challenges through local solutions and stimulating growth.

The Moroccan Cluster Solaire, IFC`s partner in this project, is a network launched in 2014 by the Moroccan Sustainable Energy Agency (MASEN) and its partners to promote the recognized skills of the Moroccan industrial fabric through proactive and dynamic federations as well as all Moroccan skills in terms of research, education and training. The Moroccan Center for Climate Innovation (MCIC) is an initiative launched jointly by the Solar Cluster and the World Bank as part of the Climate Technology program.

In this context, the objective of the Cluster Solaire / Morocco Climate Innovation Center (MCIC) is to establish local institutional capacity to support Moroccan entrepreneurs and new ventures involved in developing profitable and locally-appropriate solutions to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Through its programs, activities and financing, the MCIC and its network of partners and stakeholders will provide a country-driven approach to solving climate, energy and resource challenges and support economic development through job creation.

The IFC is looking to identify a consultant to assume an Entrepreneurship Manager/Director position for one to two (1-2) years in support of the Cluster Solaire/MCIC mission. The contract will be for an initial 100 days. The selected consultant will oversee the design and execution of all MCIC entrepreneurship support programs including a cohort-based accelerator program and technology incubation program. This is a critical position for the MCIC and demands a highly capable and dynamic individual comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment who also has the discipline to design and execute the centers programs for entrepreneurs. The selected candidate will report directly to the to the IFC Program Leaders, and have a dotted line to the MCICs Executive Director.
