UNICEF is leading a multi-year investment project to overhaul UNICEF's global digital engagement and communications. The Digital Transformation Project (DTP) centres around a new UNICEF.org, which will become a knowledge and advocacy engine for children's rights.

The vision of a UNICEF that is innovative, collaborative, and nimble requires that UNICEF.org be transformed into a digital platform and content syndication service that is audience-centered, structured not as a mirror of our internal organization, but designed in a way that makes sense for the external users.

To qualify as an advocate for every child,

You should have:

EDUCATION

A university degree in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Corporate Communication or related degree(s) in the communication area.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience writing content for the web in English (links of samples will be required) and working with content management systems such as Drupal, WordPress etc.
Very strong and proven editorial and writing skills in English
Knowledge and ability to coordinate web structures and create content for web professionally
Exceptional digital aptitude
Basic knowledge of graphic design (Adobe Photoshop is highly desirable)
Relevant experience working for communication at the United Nations Agencies especially in UNICEF is considered as an asset
Fluency in English is required

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:

Before commencing work, a consultant or individual contractor shall submit a statement of good health and take full responsibility for the accuracy of that statement, including confirmation that he or she has been informed of the inoculations required for the country or countries to which travel is authorized. Consultants and individual contractors shall assume all costs that may occur in relation to the statement of good health.

Consultants and individual contractors are required to certify that they are covered by medical/health insurance.

RECOURSE:

UNICEF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs is incomplete, not delivered or for failure to meet deadlines. Performance indicators against which the satisfactory conclusion of this contract will be assessed include: timeliness/quality of submission and responsiveness to UNICEF and counterpart feedback.

PROPERTY RIGHTS:

UNICEF shall hold all property rights, such as copyright, patents and registered trademarks, on matter directly related to, or derived from, the work carried out through this contract with UNICEF.
