Hringvegur (1) um Steinavoetn og Fellsa

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (Vegagerain) requests bids for the construction of two new bridges over Steinavoetn and Fellsa rivers, as well as the road construction of Route 1 in Suaursveit to connect the new bridges. Rivers` pathways shall be diverted from the construction sites and once the bridges are finished put back so the rivers flow under the new bridges.

Main Site : 400 km east of Reykjavik.

The proposed work is construction of 2 new bridges over Steinavoetn and Fellsa rivers, as well as the road construction of Route 1 in Suaursveit to connect the new bridges.

The works involves:

— the construction of a temporary road and a temporary bridge at Fellsa river, including demolition and removal of the existing bridge,

— elevation and widening of road and road connections to a new bridge over Steinavoetn on an 880-m long section,

— road widening and connections to a new bridge over Fellsa on a 400-m long section,

— bridge over Steinavoetn is post-tensioned reinforced concrete in four spans. Abutments and intermediate supports are of reinforced concrete. The total length of the bridge is 100 m and the total width 10 m. The abutments are of reinforced concrete supported on concrete piles,

— bridge over Fellsa is post-tensioned reinforced concrete in 2 spans span. Abutments and intermediate supports are of reinforced concrete. The total length of the bridge is 47 m and the total width 10 m.

The estimated main quantities for earthwork and road construction are:

— road fill 20.745 m,

— subbase course 8 396 m,

— road base 2 345 m,

— bituminous mixture 11 585 m.

The estimated main quantities for the bridge project are:

— formwork 3 569 m,

— reinforcement 201, 5 t,

— post-tensioning steel 41, 1 t,

— concrete 2 296 m.
