FE 77.0512 / 2019 Integration of public and private parking space management.

Scarce parking capacity and burdens due to consequent Park search traffic has a negative impact on many citiesTraffic situation and thus also on the environmental conditions and quality of life. The urban management of dormant traffic (hereafter referred to as parking space management) can only occasionally encounter these problems with Intelligent Transport Systems (IVS). For example, by locally limited parking guidance systems.

New applications in the area of ITS (sometimes referred to as "Smart Parking")or "digital parking" introduced), however, offer promising approaches to support the urban parking space management. This includes, in particular, novel applications for sensors, data processing and information transmission in stationary traffic. Here in Germany only isolated approaches, such as the new ITS applications with the urban parking management intecan be grated. Such an integration is, however, a prerequisite for the efficient further development of urban management (ie situation-based and comprehensive coverage) and transport policy goals.

In the project, approaches to integration and cooperation between different actors in parking management are to be developed and demonstrated in a practical manner. These are the basics fuhe will produce such integration and present it in the form of a pilot application. Possible actors include municipalities (eg traffic management, parking space management), parking space providers (eg car park operators) and providers of ITS services (eg information and mobility service providers). In the associated pilot application are the possibilities, effects and possibly Grof such integration in a closed application environment (eg, a city, a district, or a parking space management area). The envisaged integration concerns in particular the exchange of information of parking space relevant data and the conveyance of such information towards the road user.
