FE 06.0118 / 2018 / CGB- Assessment of the influence of water sensitivity of fine rock formations on the crushing properties of asphalt surfacing asphalt mixtures
Reference Number: Z5sh-FE 06.0118 / 2018 / CGB
FE 06.0118 / 2018 / CGB Assessment of the influence of water sensitivity of fine rock formations on the peatlandsCharacteristics of Asphalt Coats of Rolled Asphalt
The property of water sensitivity of fine rock formations has a significant influence on the mottling properties of asphalt base coats. However, the test methods currently anchored in EN 13043 do not allow an adequate response to water sensitivity. In earlier research projects it could be shown that the-Schuettel abrasion method is suitable to describe the water sensitivity of the sand as well as Fuelleranteils of fine rock strata differentiated. These results have led to an optimization of the test specification and an inclusion in the TL Gestein-StB for the collection of experience. At the moment, the process is mainly used to determine the uniformity of sand production bzw. Production control used. Extensive FGSV data collections have shown that the test results show a rock-dependence that is to be further investigated.
The aim of the research project is to develop an evaluation background for the Schuettel abrasion method for assessing the water sensitivity of fine rock formations. This can then be categories-are derived for the classification of fine rock formations for the rules. With this evaluation background and the precision data determined in an interlaboratory test, the test procedure should be anchored in the European standards. The benefit is that, on the one hand, manufacturers of asphalt have the opportunity to compare sand for rolled asphalt in a practical wayand to select the most favorable mixtures for the respective application. On the other hand, the producers of the rock formations can make the preparation more targeted. A reliable assessment of the sensitivity to water quality improves the quality of the asphalt surface course.
The applications for the research assignment are subject to the conditions of participationnts.
