Local Agenda 21 is part of the international program Agenda 21 "on sustainable development for the 21st, Century. In Vienna, LA21 processes are implemented at the district level with the intensive involvement of the citizens. A process management office (agenda office) should undertake the following tasks: Activation and motivation of the district residents, development of projects with citizens, design of cooperative relationships between different actors, moderation and mediation, professional-Consultation and public relations work.

In the ninth district of Vienna (Neubau), the process and project management of a Local Agenda 21 process is to be taken over. Local Agenda 21 has been an important instrument of citizen participation and sustainable district development for 20 years. Central task is the involvement of citizens in the brainstorming, planand implementation of sustainable district development projects. For this purpose, suitable forms of communication and cooperation with the district policy, city administration and technical experts have to be set up. The main topics at Alsergrund are an intensive activation phase at the beginning of the process, the accompaniment of existing agenda projects, the development of new projects in the fields of Klprotection and good life in the grave; the good connection of face-to-face participation with digital participation methods, as well as the documentation of experiences to make them available to all involved in the LA21 process.
