Insurance Brokerage Services

Network Rail (NR) requires insurance brokerage and support services for the effective management of the NR risk profile and ensures that NR is able to continue to operate across the network safe in the knowledge that should the worst happen we have the right level of cover and protection in place across our numerous insurance requirements.

Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd (NR) is proposing to go to the market for insurance brokerage and support services for the effective management of the NR risk profile and ensures that NR is able to continue to operate across the network safe in the knowledge that should the worst happen we have the right level of cover and protection in place across our numerous insurance requirements.

Insurance cover is required for the following categories:

— property insurance for our stations, infrastructure assets, arches and non-arch properties (also includes business interruption cover for operational risks),

— liability (public liability, construction liability, professional indemnity liability),

— motor (third party liability only),

— construction all risks,

— business travel policy,

— directors and officers liability policy,

— pension trustee liability policy,

— permanent total disablement following an illness for members of NR defined contribution pension scheme,

— insurance covers for subsidiary companies, e.g. Network Rail Consulting, Network Rail (High Speed) Ltd, Network Certification Body, etc.

The NR portfolio is complicated due to the breadth of individual categories and the sheer size of the organisation. This service ensures that NR has access to brokers who are able to provide advice and placement of insurance policies across this portfolio in a timely and professional manner, the nature of the NR requirements (due to size and complexity) mean that effective working relationships are a must have.

Conditions to participate include the satisfactory pass responses to the mandatory and discretionary conditions as well as the appropriate financial standing and satisfactory responses to the technical and professional ability questions laid out in the PQQ documentation around brokerage services.
