DANCOP (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Collaborative Outreach Programme) is funded by the OfS (Office for Students) to deliver targeted outreach programmes to and for learners from specific wards to encourage and support progression to higher education. As part of this programme of activity, DANCOP understands the importance of integrating Resilience Workshops into the DANCOP programme of aspiration raising. Resilience skills are crucial for young people within DANCOP schools to support their aspiration and progression on to higher education in the future. Resilience skills have been identified and highlighted by schools in the DANCOP area to be a barrier to higher education as young people lack the confidence and ability to recover quickly from difficult situations and setbacks which is crucial for applying, interviewing, attending and succeeding at higher education in their future.

DANCOP has launched phase 2 of the programme which run from August 2019-July 2021. DANCOP has created a strategic framework to work towards in phase 2, breaking activity down into `introductory`, `developmental` and `consolidation` phases and mapping activity towards Theory of Change and the Gatsby Benchmarks. The framework is attached at Appendix Q.

The provider is required to directly impact learners in order for the University to ensure it can report to the OfS on engagement with learners through this programme. DANCOP is a time limited programme until July 2021.

The University of Derby wishes to procure these Resilience Workshop services to ensure high quality for our students, particularly in terms of student experience, as measured through the NSS (National Student Survey) and graduate outcomes, as defined by LEO (longitudinal education outcomes). This will also support the successful achievement of aims and ambitions set out in its strategic framework.
