General Procurement Notice for Consumable Laboratory Equipment and Materials.

1. Introduction

The Government of the Republic of Burundi received from the African Bank Group African Development Fund on the resources of the Support Facility for Transition-Pillar I, a donation of a maximum amount equivalent to Six Million Units of Account (UA 6, 000, 000) in order to contribute to the Support Project for the creation of a Center of Excellence under Regional in Nutrition Sciences: "East African Nutritional Sciencies Institute" - (EANSI).

2. Description of the project

The Project aims to strengthen nutritional security and economic growth in the region of

East African community through improved access to high-level training and research

quality in nutritional science. The closing date is set for December 31, 2024 and will be articulated around

of the following components:

(i) Educational and institutional support;

(ii) Development of the center`s infrastructure;

(iii) Project management.

3. Acquisition provisions

All contracts for goods, works and consultancy services planned under the project will be awarded following the Bank`s acquisition methods and procedures in accordance with the “Award Policy of the markets financed by the Bank Group ” as of October 2015, entry into force on 1 st January 2016 using folders type of tender (SBDs) relevant to the Bank.

(i) CNTA for the use of its laboratories by students and EANSI staff;

(ii) Hawassa University on nutritional science issues; (iii) The African Nutritional Sciences Research Consortium / Columbia University

for training content and nutrition research;

(iv) The "Inter University Council For East Africa" ​​(IUCEA) for the review of educational models and quality audit;

(v) BBN for the use of its laboratories by students and EANSI staff;

(vi) CELAB for capacity building for teachers and

scholarship students in languages ​​(French, English);

(vii) African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES) for the audit of the quality of EANSI training;

(viii) IRRI for the use of its laboratories by students and EANSI staff;

(ix) The Burundian Office for the Protection of the Environment for the monitoring of the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP);

(x) HOHENHEIM University for the use of the expertise of its "food security center";

(xi) RUFORUM for supporting teacher mobility;

(xii) OBEM for the revision of the directory of trades to introduce trades specific to nutrition;

(xiii) Various other key strategic partners

- The acquisitions intended for the operation of the Project as well as those related to logistics for

the organization of training sessions, capacity building seminars will be done in accordance with the provisions of the manual of administrative, financial and accounting procedures of the Project.
