Tender Details

Tenders are invited for Consultancy (with travel) for the 2019 Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) Annual Meeting (50 working days).

UNICEF works in some of the world-s toughest places, to reach the world-s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, appropriate nutrition

The Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) was established in 2006 as part of the Humanitarian Reform process, which aimed to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian response programmes by ensuring greater predictability, accountability and partnership in order to reach more affected population, with more comprehensive, need-based relief in a more effective and timely manner. At global level, the Global Nutrition Cluster has about 40 partners. UNICEF is the Cluster Lead Agency for the Global Nutrition Cluster.

The GNC annual meeting is a three-day meeting and is normally attended by 60-80 participants comprised of country cluster coordinators, country information managers, global and country cluster partners from the UN and NGO community as well as donors.

The upcoming GNC Annual Meeting is scheduled to take place in Brussels from 2nd to 4th July 2019. The meeting is expected to be structured around country cluster presentations.

Additionally, on 1st July, a side-event focusing on Afghanistan and DRC will be held to showcase the thematic issues being dealt with in those countries, demonstrate UNICEF leadership, as well as discuss the concerns being faced there. Based on the case studies presented during this side-event, participants will discuss, prioritise and agree actions for the three-day meeting.

How can you make a difference?

In this context, investment in preparation to create structured, clear presentations is critical for an effective, efficient meeting. The GNC is therefore looking for a consultant to support preparations for the GNC annual meeting as below:

Side-meeting on Afghanistan and DRC:
The consultant will support the GNC Global Coordinator and Country Cluster Coordinators to a) develop background country briefs, b) develop country presentations, c) identify key questions to inform discussions, d) provide input to the agenda development, e) document the meeting outcome. During the meeting, the consultant will support the country cluster presenters as necessary and provide support to the meeting chair and facilitators in the meeting process. The rapporteur will support the chair and facilitator to identify key points emerging from sessions and to inform concluding remarks and actions. The consultant will produce a short report as a final output.

Country cluster presentations development for the GNC Annual meeting
Modelled on previous successful approaches in 2017 and 2018, the consultant will conduct interviews with and provide necessary technical and editorial support to country cluster coordination teams to unpack and subsequently develop presentations to deliver in the main GNC meeting. Country cluster experiences to feature will be identified by the GNC Global Coordinator in consultation with the Strategic Advisory group (SAG).

Preparing a final report from the 2019 GNC Annual meeting
The consultant will also attend the 2019 GNC Annual meeting and will take notes and prepare the final report of the meeting to be shared with partners.

The deliverables will be assessed as per timeliness and quality based on the consensus of the Strategic Advisory Group.
