The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES), former Secretary of the Environment (SEAM), with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), presented to the Global Environment Facility: GEF / GEF the Project "Integrating Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Land Management in production practices in all biorregions and biomes in Paraguay ", which was approved in December 2013. The objective of the project is to protect the biodiversity and functions of the eco-region of the Atlantic Forest of Alto Paran against the existing and emerging threats of multisectoral production practices, becoming a model to be replicated throughout the eco-regions of the country.This is intended to be achievedthrough three results: 1) Effective governance framework for biodiversity conservation and sustainable soil management in multiple use landscapes, 2) Financial and market incentive frameworks promote biodiversity and sustainable management of land within priority landscape areas of multiple use, 3) Implestrengthened mentoring of the system of legal reserves and sustainable production practices.The Project will co-finance and coordinate actions with other projects and initiatives in execution in the country, through instances such as: INFONA, MAG, MIC, INDI, private unions, organizations non-governmental, indigenous organizations, international organizations, inBinational entities and local governments.
