The Secretariat of the Environment (SEAM), with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), presented the project "Asuncin Ciudad Verde de las Amricas - Pathways to Sustainability" to the Global Environment Facility (GEF), which was prepared and will be implemented jointly with the Municipality of Asuncin, the Ministry of Public Worksicas and Communications, the Technical Secretariat of Planning, the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN), the Paraguayan Network of Sustainable Cities and Guyra Paraguay. This project of US $ 7, 493, 000 was approved by the GEF at the end of 2016 in the framework of of its "Integrated Sustainable Cities Focus Program" that integrates 23 other cities from 11 countries aroundor of the world. The objective of this five-year project is to improve the quality of life in the Metropolitan Area of Asuncin (AMA) by granting multiple benefits with equity criteria through the integration of transportation and solid waste management and green infrastructure within a framework of a sustainable and resilient city. To reach the objectiveSince the project will develop actions to guide Asuncin and the 10 municipalities of its metropolitan area towards a sustainable and resilient urban environment, through the approach of the main current urban problems, particularly transportation, the elimination of solid waste and the management of areas green, encouraging the participation of the populationn in the process under criteria ofequity and inclusion. One of the results of the project for Year 1 defined as Component 3 "Improved waste and chemical management system to reduce GHG, UPOP and toxic chemical emissions" consists of three well-defined products, namely Product 3.1 .: Project Pilot on the proper management of landfills ilegales in the BSMBA Reserve to reduce global impacts; Output 3.2.: Pilot project of collection and separation of RSU (10ton / day) and Product 3.3 .: Pilot project of recycling of RSU (6ton / day) for the recovery...
