The Managing Director, who is answerable to the Board of Directors, oversees the day-to-day implementation of Urunana DC-s national SBCC program.

Urunana DC in collaboration with Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) is implementing strategic social behaviour change interventions with particular focus on the Remedial Learning Program. The Remedial Learning Program is highlighted in the Ministerial Instructions No. 002/2021 of 26/07/2021 determining the modalities for the management of the school timetable, in its article 12 which provides a period (40 minutes) per day allocated to remedial activities. This makes a total of 5 periods per week in Basic education schools. Increasing the number of periods per week in basic education is not a post-COVID 19 response only. It is a process that is aimed at progressively phasing out the double shift system in primary starting with Primary 6.

In this regard, Urunana DC in collaboration with REB is implementing a project “Awareness Creation and Education on Remedial Learning among the target population through strategic Social Behaviour Change Interventions in Rwanda” which seeks to create awareness on Remedial Learning in education mainly targeting primary and secondary learners, teachers and parents/guardians to improve education outcomes for learners in Rwanda.
