The Global Philanthropy team has focused primarily on capacity building in National Committees and Country Offices to date. In order to develop new income opportunities and capability to achieve defined targets in key markets, the Global Philanthropy team is investing in a post to directly support the Global Philanthropy Strategic Initiatives Manager in the prospecting, management and stewardship of Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) philanthropists and Family Foundations globally.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of Global Philanthropy Strategic Initiatives Manager and in collaboration with National Committees and Country Office colleagues, the consultant will support with the fast tracking of UNICEFs high value pipeline in order to maximize resources and support for UNICEF programmes to achieve results for children. The consultant will also, under direction, support the management and stewardship of some of UNICEFs most significant philanthropists globally in order to ensure donor loyalty and uplift in giving.

MAIN TASKS:

UHNW Prospect Identification and Cultivation

§ Collaborate with Global Philanthropy team to develop high value and realistic prospect lists of UHNW potential donors with a focus on key markets as directed by the Global Philanthropy Strategic Initiatives Manager.

§ Identify prospects, conduct research and create research products that will help key stakeholders engage, solicit and steward donors. Map networks globally and make recommendations on connections and possible pathways to prospects.

§ Carry out a peer mapping exercise for UNICEF Executive Director and Deputy Executive Directors with a focus on links to the top 50 wealthy families globally.

UHNW Donor Management and Stewardship

§ Work with the Global Philanthropy Strategic Initiatives Manager to develop and deliver robust stewardship plans for current UHNWI globally including uplift giving strategies

§ Attend donor meetings along with the Global Philanthropy Strategic Initiatives Manager and Chief, Global Philanthropy, acting as a secondary relationship manager for key donors and influencers in focus markets.

§ Use own networks to identify and drive forward approaches to new UHNWI prospects in focus markets, working in collaboration with country office colleagues.

§ Work with the Major Donor Specialists and programme colleagues in crafting bespoke cultivation and stewardship plans and offerings for donors and prospects at the highest level.

Monitor global trends and developments in Philanthropy

§ Monitor global and regional trends and developments in philanthropy to secure and facilitate the sharing of best practice.

§ Maintain a network of key influencers in multiple geographic regions in order to identify the strongest potential markets for new business.

§ Monitor competitor performance and movements in the top 10 philanthropy centers of wealth globally.

Prepare cases for support

§ Write compelling cases for support and other donor communications which can be readily distributed and adapted for global prospects as related to major initiatives launched by UNICEF.

§ Include a full package of materials needed but not limited to elevator speeches, Q&A materials, and other materials for solicitation of prospects.

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL:

11.5 months.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

§ Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration or related field is required.

§ A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

§ Minimum of six years relevant professional work experience in major gift fundraising including experience of personally soliciting six figure gifts from UHNWIs.

§ Knowledge of the principles and practice of fundraising and philanthropy is required, as is an understanding of international development.

§ Knowledge of corporate social responsibility theory and practice, social and innovative financing and experience of working in international organizations, are additional assets.

§ Knowledge of the UN system is an advantage.

§ Fluency in English is required.

§ Fluency in Spanish or Italian is an asset.

§ High level relationship management and communication skills.
