Individual Consultancy - International professional videographer & writer

· Background & Purpose:

UNICEF is funded entirely by voluntary contributions. UNICEF’s work in Niger would not be possible without the sustained commitment and generous contributions received from its committed funding partners. To publicly recognise these supports and respond to our donors’ visibility requirements, Niger Country Office plans to produce a series of high quality multimedia materials to highlight the support provided by its donors and raise awareness and generate increased support in the country. The materials should highlight the progress achieved through the funding support received by the Country office.

In this framework, Niger Country Office requires the services of an International Professional Videographer & Writer to produce a series of multimedia materials (video, photo and Human Interest stories), driven by compelling storytelling that will engage national and global audience – including donors. These materials will be used by UNICEF’s internal and external partners across various platforms at national, regional and global levels.

· Objective(s) of the consultancy:

Produce a series of video and multimedia materials to highlight the support provided by UNICEF’s funding partners.

· Specific activities to be completed to achieve the objectives:

With the aim of highlighting the support provided by its funding partners, Niger CO plans to produce a series of multimedia materials, which include:

· A human-focused short video designed for digital platforms highlighting the impact of the ECHO-supported innovative Rapid SMS project in Niger (Filming location: Diffa)

· A human-focused short video designed for digital platform highlighting the impact of the multisectoral and multi-actors ECHO-funded Rapid Response mechanism project in Diffa (Filming location: Diffa)

· A human-focused short video designed for digital platforms highlighting the support provided by BPRM in the education sector – with a focus on the “ecoles evolutives” project (filming location: Diffa)

· A human-focused short video designed for digital platforms highlighting the malnutrition issues in Niger and how the UK-AID funding is directly helping to address and prevent these issues (filming location: Diffa)

· A human-focused short video designed for digital platforms highlighting the peace and resilience building programme supported by the Government of Japan in Diffa (Filming location: Diffa)

The stories should be designed to captivate a global audience and donors and raise further awareness on the situation in Niger. The style of the videos should be quite visual with a clear linear narrative approach that delves into detail about the situation in the country, what Niger CO and its partners are implementing to overcome the challenges, how they do so, and how those around them are able to support (or hinder). They should also contain elements of emotion and retain a human aspect.

Social media sharing should be thought of when designing the video and the audio-slideshow. To maximize the possibility of social media driven online media outlets being able to utilize and further share the video we encourage the use of creative/new content ideas in addition to traditional real life video content including animation.

· Methodology:

The selected videographer should work closely with the programmes and communication teams to understand the specific issues, and articulate these problems within the treatment or storyline devised. The end product should resonate with both a global audience via social media but also a localized audience who understands the issue presented as one of concern for those living within the country.
