Description : The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ("FAO" or "Organization") is an intergovernmental organization with more than 194 member countries. Since its inception, FAO has worked to alleviate poverty and hunger by promoting agricultural development, improved nutrition and the pursuit of food security - defined as the access of all people at all times to the food they need for an active and healthy life. To achieve its goals, FAO cooperates with thousands of partners worldwide, from farmers' groups to traders, from non-governmental organizations to other UN agencies, from development banks to agribusiness firms.The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in its support to the Government of Ghana to implement sustainable interventions to reduce youth unemployment is promoting the establishment of an integrated cluster model for aquaculture systems under a project funded by the African Solidarity Trust Further to this, 4 sites was selected in the following towns; Elluokrom, Essam, Kwamebikrom and Yawmatwa and fish tank farms established for four groups of youth beneficiaries. Also as part of the intervention, a hatchery is being renovated for a youth beneficiary in Assin Fosu. Water management challenges are being encountered in these farms; therefore, it has become necessary to construct five (5) mechanized boreholes for the four fish farms in the Debiso Enclave and a Hatchery at Assin Fosu for the beneficiaries under (ASTF) Project.
