Call for expression of Interest from local NGOs/CBOs in Timor-Leste DEADLINE for submissions: 28 February 2019DURATION: twelve months from March 2019Building Shoreline Resilience of Timor-Leste to Protect Local Communities and their Livelihoods UNDP-TL in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries is seeking Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualifiedduly registered local (Timor-Leste) Nonprofit Organizations (CBOs/NGOs) for pre-qualification and possible implementation of specific activities in the following areas: Mangrove/wetlands conservation and restorationSustainable land management and soil bioengineering, Forest conservation and managementHorticulture, agriculture and aquacultureLivelihood developmentWatersupply and irrigation Project Background The Coastal Resilience Building project, funded by the GEF, is being implemented in close collaboration with the Government of Timor-Leste (GoTL) through the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF), the Secretary of State for Environment, Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Social Solidarities, UNTL, NGOs and private enterprises. The project objective is to strengthen resilience of coastal communities by the introduction of nature-based approaches to coastal protection. The project is supporting inter- and intra-ministerial coordination for collaborative development planning ensuring protection of coastal areas, as well as identify and research potential revenue streams for long term sustainability. Mangroves are vital natural defense to the impacts of climate change, extensive mangrove protection and restoration will be supported while addressing community pressures (i.e. felling for fuelwood) and introduce alternative mangrove-supportive livelihoods, as well as improve public awareness about the important role of coastal ecosystems in shoreline protection and climate change adaptation and mitigation.Since Timor-Leste's landscape is generally steep, therefore, where relevant, the project looks a...
