Description : This Contract includes the upgrade of the filter backwash sequence at the Blackwater Water Treatment Plant (WTP), minor piping works and valve replacements at the Blackwater Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), and replacement of two magnetic flow meters in Emerald. In its current state, the Blackwater WTP has 6 filters. Filters 1 to 4 have the option to perform a filter to waste post backwash, while filters 5 and 6 do not have this filter to waste option. This can result in filters 1 to 4 being overloaded which increases the risk of turbidity breakthrough and reduction in treated water quality.A Concept Solutions Report was produced by Q Consult in July 2019. The purpose of this Contract is to undertake the detailed design and construction of the recommended option found in that report: to turn a section of the above ground backwash header into a combined backwash header / filter to waste header for filters 5 and 6. The works will include modifications to the above ground pipework and the installation of a short section of in-ground pipework connecting to the existing in-ground pipework. The works are multidisciplinary and will include hydraulic, process, mechanical, electrical/control systems and civil.
