Abstract: Bangor University is currently in the process of establishing the Shellfish Centre, a high profile, internationally-recognised and internationally-connected centre for shellfish-related science and innovation that will develop economic opportunities to drive growth in the shellfish sector in Wales. This project is part-funded by the EU's West Wales and the Valleys European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Operational Programme through the Welsh Government. The Shellfish centre laboratory is looking to establish qualitative and quantitative molecular testing for a wide range of viral, bacterial and protozoan pathogens, as well as a number of bivalve species. We require a quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system and associated instruments for the detection, analysis and comparative or absolute quantification of target nucleic acids in varied samples along with the servicing for up to 5 years.
