Community YJ functions are delivered across Victoria, while YJ custodial services are delivered across two sites the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct in central Melbourne and the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct in regional Victoria. The purpose of this engagement is to secure the services of an accredited Art Facilitator who will provide an art program to young people at Malmsbury and Parkville Youth Justice precincts. The Art Program is designed to meet the needs of young people in custody. The creative arts are recognised as a therapeutic method of engaging young people, encouraging young people to learn pro-social methods of self-expression, emotional regulation and address any current or previous behaviours of concern that young people may have. This program is been used within youth justice centres as a tool to assist in the rehabilitation of young people at Malmsbury and will now be extended to the the Parkville Precinct.
