The selected firm will work across the followingkey task areas:a. Historical and Archaeological Research: Conductarchaeological surveys, document historical evidence and site features.b. Site Assessments: Carry out environmental, geotechnical, and structural analysis to determine current extent ofarcheological evidence, with particular focus to non-invasive techniques for thedetection of underground archeological evidences.c. Facilitate Designated Authorities inDecision-Making: Provide specialist input to national authorities supportingexisting mechanisms and frameworks. The Departmentof Archaeology, Lumbini Development Trust, and Ministry of Culture, Tourism andCivil Aviation (MoCTCA) of Nepal have established an International ScientificCommittee for the conservation and management of the Lumbini Word HeritageSite. The committee will meet in early2026 to discuss the most appropriate actions for the conservation of the MayaDevi conservation shelter and Sacred Garden and the launch of an internationaldesign competition.d. Heritage Management and Site Plan Development:Prepare strategic, phased site plans for each heritage asset, with clearrecommendations for conservation, infrastructure development, visitormanagement, and sustainable utilization. These site plans should be developed following the standard requirementsand practice of the Department of Archaeology and Lumbini Development Trust.e. Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitateconsultations with local communities, government agencies, and otherstakeholders to ensure inclusive planning and shared ownership.f. Capacity Building and Training: Roll outactivities with emphasis on capacity-building for local authorities, including sharinggood practices and on the job training on site management, preservationtechniques, site security, and visitor services.
