The Laguna Solar Park will provide 125 megawatts of energy to the region and consists of installing 360 photovoltaic panels on an area of ​​230 hectares. The investment amounts to 118 million dollars and is part of the 174 Power Global project. Officials from Hanwha Group and Hanwha Energy, as well as municipal, state and federal officials attended the ceremony to formalize the start of construction. Efraín Villanueva Arcos, general director of Clean Energy of the Secretariat of Energy, highlighted the high potential of Coahuila in the field of alternative sources of electricity supply. "We know that the sun here is an inexhaustible source of energy and this project will have the success we all want." He stressed that in the current federal administration and with the Energy Reform, there are 65 alternative power generation plants, such as solar and wind power. The head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism, Jaime Guerra Pérez thanked the Korean investors for their trust and explained the advantages of this type of parks in the state. "Coahuila is the only state in the Republic where solar and wind energy projects are carried out. We have solar potential practically throughout the state and we are above the national average in terms of measurements ". Juan Fernández, manager of the local project, explained that in an area of ​​230 hectares will install 360 solar panels supported by 51 thousand metal structures. He added that the generation of 125 megawatts is planned and each one can provide electricity to 800 homes. In addition, the construction of the park located between the Santo Niño Aguanaval and San Julián ejidos will allow the hiring of 400 people among carpenters, electricians and machine operators. Laguna Solar corresponds to one of the projects of the second Long Term Auction, the sector was chosen due to the favorable climatic conditions and geographic characteristics, and will work in the second quarter of 2019.

Coahuila, the only state where solar and wind energy projects are carried out.
