Rome Research gets $23.5 million U.S. Navy satellite facility contract Research and Development

Rome Research Corp (RRC), a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corp. (PAR) has been awarded a five-year, firm fixed-price contract worth of $23.5 million to service a satellite-communications facility in Chesapeake, Va.

RRC expressed the five-year contract as having one base year with four options.

The U.S. Navy contract facilitate assistance to handle and maintain the Navy Satellite Communications Facility (NAVSATCOMMFAC) Northwest, situated in Chesapeake Va., and a component activity of the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic (NCTAMS LANT) in Norfolk, Va.

The contract symbolizes extending work for the company.

According to RRC, NAVSATCOMMFAC Northwest is an information gateway assisting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) global-information grid.

Globally, its one of seven U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Teleport facilities, delivering both satellite and terrestrial connectivity for voice, video, and data to ships, submarines, aircraft and ground forces functioning across globe in support of Naval and Joint Forces Missions.

The company says, RRC, a provider of operations and maintenance (O&M) teleport services for the DoD, has functioned the Northwest site since 2001.

As per the contract, RRC will facilitate round-the-clock O&M of 27 satellite terminals operating in both the military and civilian satellite communications-frequency bands.
