The U.S. Air Force has awarded Pima Community College (PCC) a five year contract worth around $1.8 million for the training of U.S. Air Force personnel to become paramedics.

Around 260 members of the U.S. Air Force will be trained by PCC.

The Air Force awarded the contract to PCC after carrying out a country wide search for the paramedic training, which will take place at the Public Safety and Emergency Services Institute.

A total of 26 Air Force personnel will go through ten sessions of classes.

Since 2003, more than 600 students have completed the PCC paramedic program course. The program has also had more first respondents come through it than any other academy in Southern Arizona.

The Air Force students’ classes will last about four months and the first class is likely to finish their training in November.
