Henkel Construction Co. of Mason City will be primary contractor of the new emergency services center at the J Street corner and Highway 69. The overall estimated contract value goes to $3.1 million including the architectural fees and other expenditures. Funds are being raised for the center by the Emergency service groups. Mark Johnson, Fire Chief, Forest City is expecting an additional raise of $200,000 for the building. Descent amount of fund are already available. If fundraising tasks are not met, discussion at the council meeting recommended using a fund set aside for capital expenditure like fire trucks to assist cover costs. At June 16 meeting the next step in the building process is to be approved. A speculated completion date is set for June 2015. A single story building will be modeled facing west toward U.S. Highway 69.
