'Green Hope' Project Construction and Real Estate

The Cabeço neighborhood, in Tortosendo, lived on October 31 a special day with the realization of the Autumn Street Assembly and the start of the "Green Hope" Project. This initiative, winner of the "Covilhã Decide 2017" Participatory Budget, aims to improve the outer space of the social area, creating green, landscaping and convivial areas for adults, children and young people. Places capable of promoting community life and promoting a better quality of life. It was also inaugurated the Community Edible Garden, a space created and maintained by a group of residents.

The project "Verde Esperança" is supported by the activities of Quero Ser Mais E6G, a Social Inclusion project, funded by the Escolhas Program, which CooLabora has developed in Tortosendo with children, young people and their families since 2010. is the manager and the Grouping of Schools Freire Heitor Pinto promoter.

The aim of the Street Assembly was to listen to the community about the problems that remain, their needs and possible solutions. In parallel, there were community workshops for the arrangement of garden benches, tree / shrub planting and children's workshops, and the day ended in celebration with a magical and musical animation.

This important day of inclusion and citizenship was attended by the mayor, Vítor Pereira, accompanied by the councilors Regina Gouveia and Jorge Afonso Gomes, the director of CooLabora, Graça Rojão, and the president of the Town Council, David Silva, among others representatives of the "I Want to Be More E6G" project consortium.

For the mayor of the municipality, this is a "symbolic act in which we launched an important initiative for the integration of this nucleus in the wider community of Tortosendo and the county." The mayor highlighted the Participatory Budget for being the origin of this project of 25 thousand euros "in which are the residents who choose what they want, how they want, make and conserve equipment and spaces that will raise their self-esteem, with more confidence in the future ".
