'Energy': Electricity surplus is important to serve consumers and is not awarded in tenders Power and Energy

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stressed the need for a surplus in generating electricity by 10 to 15% to serve consumers in circumstances that need to consume higher than the average, denying that any of the companies that have implemented solar projects have been awarded to the number of now about 29 companies , But was qualified through tenders and offers duly.

In the details, the ministry's spokesman responded to incorrect statements about the electricity sector in Jordan regarding the Kingdom's electricity needs, the cost of the electrical system and the project referral mechanism, namely the first phase of solar projects and the closure of net projects for households and the commercial sector.

He pointed out that the maximum load of the Jordanian electrical system is currently about 3,200 MW, while Jordan has 4200 MW of traditional generating units working on gas, and naturally have a capacity to generate electricity by 10 to 15%, so that we can serve consumers In the circumstances that need to consume higher than the average, Jordan boasts today the existence of about 1150 MW of renewable energy linked to the electricity network, and constitute about 10% of consumption in Jordan.

He said that renewable energy projects produce electricity equal to the production of a conventional plant with only 300 megawatts, because its production is related to weather factors from sun and wind.

Moreover, despite the fact that there is a generation capacity more than the average consumption of Jordan, but these units are operated and fueled by fuel to produce the electricity that we need only, which means that we do not surplus in electricity produced, but only in obstetric capacity.

In this regard, it should be emphasized that the total fixed cost (cost of investment allowance) to be paid by the National Electricity Company in 2019 for all power plants operating in the Kingdom is estimated at 375 million dinars and the government owns more than one third of this capacity, Private electricity generation companies in all countries of the world and not only in Jordan.

As for the projects of the first phase of solar energy, the implementation of these projects was not carried out by way of the implementation of any of the companies that implemented these projects, but the Ministry has opened the time for qualified companies to submit bids for the implementation of solar projects, the number of 12 global companies underwent a detailed evaluation By the Ministry of Energy and the Organization of the Energy Sector and Minerals and have been duly rehabilitated. These companies have implemented a total capacity of 200 MW and constitute only 2% of the total electricity produced and consumed in the Kingdom.

In other words, the implementation of these projects did not take place in the manner of contracting. The total number of companies operating in the field of renewable energy in the Kingdom of 29 companies were approved according to the previous mechanism and not by regulation.

As for the high price of selling electricity from this stage, the ministry pointed out that these prices were reflective of the nature of international markets at that time. The average price of buying energy from these companies was about 11.5 piasters per kilowatt hour. However, the development in the solar market around In addition to the success of the Jordanian experiment in operating the first phase of these stations, the price of solar energy in Jordan gradually decreased to reach 1.7 piasters for the third phase of solar projects.

These prices also reflect the prices of the generation and add the prices of transport and distribution to the consumer.

Regarding the government's suspension of energy projects under the guise of net measurement for all population and commercial groups, the ministry reiterates that the government has not stopped domestic solar projects, but encourages citizens to acquire them and switch to clean green energy. 1000 kW to apply for approval, and most commercial subscribers can benefit from it.

It should be borne in mind that houses on average install systems from 2 kilowatts to 50 kilowatts at maximum, and that 1,000 kilowatts is a very high limit for home users. The instructions for the net measurement process are also clear (net measurement instructions) The principle of buying electricity at a price and selling it at a different price is based on the principle of clearing energy, which means that what is consumed is deducted from what is generated from the renewable energy system installed in the establishment or home, neither sale nor purchase, and these consumers can rotate the energy produced surplus from consumption For months and years to come.
