EIB lends €240 million for Warsaw infrastructure development Financial Services

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved €240 million long term loan agreement to finance municipal infrastructure projects in Warsaw, Poland.

The financing is aimed to support the city’s 2014-2019 investment programme, consisting projects related to education, mobility schemes, social and healthcare.

Construction of the city’s inner ring road and cycle routes, revamping of streets and modification of the street infrastructure are also included as part of investment programme.

These investments made by EIB will improvise long-term economic development in the municipality and impart to implementation of the city’s significant development policy.

The Vistula River bank area will also be developed, integrating it with the historic centre and initiating flood protection measures.

Transport schemes will involve the construction of an inner ring road for the city, as well as the renovation of streets and modernisation of street infrastructure.

According to EIB vice-president responsible for lending in Poland László Baranyay - The strategic priority objective of the EIB is the urban renewal and regeneration in the quest of more continual and competitive cities. The new agreement with the city of Warsaw will facilitate us to promote the city’s future economic development. This seventh operation with the City of Warsaw also exhibits the EIB’s substantial support for Warsaw’s urban infrastructure in numerous sectors.
