The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries yesterday launched 160 projects in its various sectors for investment at an investment cost of RO 785 million (equivalent to US $ 2 billion), all of which are new and will be implemented. According to Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar Al Sagwani, The investment exists and will provide employment opportunities for Omanis and supports all of this promising investment climate in the Sultanate.

Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries officials said that the ministry is launching a number of projects in the sectors of agricultural, animal and fish wealth, which will enhance the Sultanate's presence in international markets for these products, and provide job opportunities for Omanis in addition to contributing to national production.

The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries pointed out that the fisheries projects reach 91 projects in the hope that the fishing production will increase from 350 thousand tons in 2017 to 1.3 million tons of fish and natural fisheries, production of 100 thousand tons of fish farming, Thousand tons, an increase of about 400% by 2023

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Dr. Hamad bin Saeed Al-Awfi said in a statement to the youth that for three years, the ministry has worked to crystallize these opportunities to be promising and attractive for local and international investments, which are diverse investment opportunities between large, medium and small to suit the abilities of all Investors.

Al-Awfi said: "It is done through the Fish Wealth Laboratory and its programs have been implemented since the beginning of 2018. We have already launched 90 projects, 81 of which are initiatives and 9 initiatives that help to implement these projects, ranging from fishing to exploiting unexploited fisheries resources, In fish farming, which has a plan to produce 100 thousand tons through it, and have started these projects in several states, including Qurayat and Jalan, What there Elsafelh projects in Dhofar and all projects reinforce the presence of the Sultanate in international markets for these products and create job opportunities for Omanis as well as to contribute to the national production.

He pointed out that the ministry is hosting about 100 participants from many countries interested in investing in the Sultanate.
