Sababa Portugal, with Canadian and Israeli capital, plans to invest 16 million euros in Campo Maior in a cannabis harvest for medicinal purposes. "The company made agricultural tests on the land and they were overcome," explained Ricardo Pinheiro, president of the Campo Maior Chamber, noting that "several meetings have already been held with the Government" and that the project is awaiting licensing by the National Drug Authority and Health Products. The project will start in an area of four hectares and foresees, over the next five years, an investment of 16 million euros, and it will create 50 jobs.
