In August 2012, the first central government of the country was formed by the name of Federal Government of Somalia since the onset of the civil war. The nation has undergone a span of intense reconstruction, particularly in the capital, Mogadishu. Over the years, Somalia has managed to maintain an informal economy, which is based on livestock, allowances from Somalis who are working abroad and telecommunications. As per Central Bank of Somalia, the GDP per capita of the country as of 2012 is 226 dollars. About 43% of the total population survive less than 1 US dollar a day in the country, with around 24% of the total population found in urban areas and 54% live in rural areas. The economy comprises of both traditional as well as modern production, with a gradual shift in favor of modern industrial techniques taking root. Agriculture is an essential economic sector of Somalia and accounts for about 65% of the total GDP and employs 65% of the workforce
